The Slow Life: inspiration for the 2026 Stationery Collection

Who else feels like 2025 is ambitiously attempting to top the time speed record of 2024? It doesn't seem possible a year has elapsed since I last sat down to write this journal entry.

My relationship with time has been getting a lot of consideration lately. Is time actually speeding up, or am I cramming more and more into life and blaming it on time moving faster?

I yearn for an unrushed life with plentiful moments free from the intrusion of commitments, appointments, and endless correspondence. To wander hand in hand with time, living in the moment, with a peaceful mind, enjoying less rather than more. There is so much space in the 'less' for more profound and wonderous connections to my environment and myself.

It has always been the soulful and steady corners of my life that inspire my art. It is here I find the people, animals and possessions I love.

The new art I have painted for the Twigseeds 2026 Stationery Collection is once again a celebration of the home and all its residents and contents.

When we consider the everyday details around us, they become rather remarkable. Like the dresser on the cover illustration of the Twigseeds Diary, such a noble piece of furniture standing so still, housing our treasures, so easily overlooked and never complaining or asking for attention.

I like the stories and history of old furniture. I have a senior kitchen table with chew marks on the edge where something has nibbled away at the timber. Perhaps a bored puppy or a breadknife that couldn't stay on its cutting course. I regard this table and its long life, growing up in a forest before many years of steady service. Time for a loving beeswax and lavender massage to say thank you.

Last year, I began learning patchwork at my friend Lou's store, Sand Salt Sew, in Noosa. On Wednesdays, I sit and hand stitch with an exceptional group of women as we swoon over pretty fabrics, console each other when it takes 15 minutes to thread a needle and contemplate life's oddities while drinking tea and eating cake. When we all went on a sewing retreat together, the new artwork of little squares began. Rather than sewing a patchwork, I ended up painting one. The back cover of the Diary and the front covers of the Journal and Calendar are the perfect spot for it; each square a little doorway and opportunity to get lost in time.

I hope you enjoy the new artwork and products and that they bring joy to your store.

With love and gratitude for all your support,

Kate
